If you're planning a Universal Orlando trip and staring at a blank calendar trying to figure out how many days to block off, you're not alone. This is the single most common question I get from clients right now — and the honest answer is: it depends on what you want to do, but the old math no longer works.
Epic Universe changed everything. Universal Orlando is now a four-park resort. The formula that used to say "one or two days is plenty" is officially retired.

Epic Universe is massive — five fully immersive worlds spread across a campus that is separate from the original Universal parks. In one well-planned day with Express Pass, most guests can hit the headline rides across all five worlds. But "hit the rides" and "truly experience the park" are two different things.

Budget two days for Epic Universe and treat anything extra as a bonus. First-timers almost always wish they'd had more time — the park rewards a slower pace.
Before Epic Universe opened, most guests did both of these parks in two to three days comfortably. That hasn't changed. What has changed is that park hopping between all three Universal parks is now possible with a 3-Day or longer Park-to-Park ticket.
🎢 Islands of Adventure
The strongest single park for thrill seekers — Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, VelociCoaster, and Hogsmeade are all here. Plan a full day.
🎬 Universal Studios Florida
The more balanced, atmosphere-forward park — better for families with younger kids, fans of shows, and guests who want the classic movie-studio feel. Plan a full day.
Volcano Bay — Universal's water park — is a great flex day, especially from May through August when the Florida heat is intense. Add one day for Volcano Bay. It won't be the centerpiece of your trip, but it's a smart pressure valve on a multi-day visit.

Volcano Bay closes for seasonal refurbishment starting October 26, 2026, with plans to reopen by April 1, 2027. If water park time is on your list, plan your trip before that date.
